Our Customer Service Policy
Communication
Our goal is to answer every call that comes in. Because this is a family owned business, we may not be able to answer your call right away, but you can leave a voicemail or a text and we will do our best to reach back out to you the same day. We normally offer quotes within 24-48 hours but during busy times or long distances it can take as long as 1 week. Another option is to simply text your address to the main number and we will reach out to you when we are ready to come out and quote your tree removal or pruning.
Guarantee of Repair to Damages
Easy Eddy's Tree Service guarantees the repair of any damage to structures, vehicles, or functional utilities belonging to the homeowner, that may occur during our tree care operations.
Driveways and Roads
Some of our trucks leak small amounts of oil around the engine area and though we make a great effort to keep the oil from landing on new or clean concrete, there are many times when some spots of oil will be visible on the road or driveway after the job is done. If you wish to guarantee zero oil spotting then there must be sufficient staging area for three truck and trailer combinations on the roadway adjacent to your house, or it must be requested in advance that we place tarps under any trucks that are driven over or on the driveway. This added precaution will entail an upcharge that depends on the size and length of the driveway.
Efficiency and Safety
Our goal is for our customers to receive the highest possible standard of service within a reasonable set of expectations. Tree service is heavy, dangerous, and logistically challenging, and it takes place in widely varied weather conditions and difficult locations often filled with obstacles that sometimes have much higher sentimental value to the homeowners than true serviceable value.
We ask those who hire our company to be understanding of the fact that we sacrifice much to offer the services they are purchasing, including our personal comfort and safety. We go home with aches, scrapes, bruises, cuts, and joint pain, and often miss our families for long months of the busy work season. Under this kind of constant physical and emotional stress, we maintain our efforts to keep safe the properties and neighborhoods where we are hired to work.
We hope that those who hire us realize that we are balancing between earning sufficient money, protecting ourselves, and protecting customer property. We prefer to work quickly and efficiently, which lowers our prices: however, there are many safety and liability factors we consider when choosing our methods, and most risk factors require additional steps to guarantee total safety, which takes more jobsite time.
“As Found” Conditional Repair
There may be things on a property that are directly in the way of tree work, such as yard ornaments, fencing, gutters, etc.... In some cases, these things can receive minor cosmetic damage, or depending on location, size of the tree, or fragility of the obstacle, could be crushed, knocked over, or broken. If a minor obstacle such as those described is in bad repair, and is damaged during our work, we will not accept liability for replacement with new but rather will offer a repair in kind with its existing state of repair.
This standard is also applied to various other elements of residential properties. For example, a gutter that is already dented will not be repaired if we cause a minor dent. An old yard ornament that has been broken will not be replaced with new, nor paid a cash replacement value of a new unit when it is out of its lifespan or in disrepair. Fencing has the same standard as gutters: if it is already rusty, broken, bent, or damaged, then a new bend or minor damage will not be grounds for new replacement of sections or boards. This will also apply to driveways and walkways of stone, gravel, concrete, and asphalt.
Lawn and Landscape Disclaimer
The landscape, which is environmental in nature, does not receive the same guarantee of repair unless specified in a written agreement with the customer. It is normal for divots and minor abrasions to be visible on lawns after tree removals, including light track marks from the mini Bobcat, although in many cases the yard shows no sign whatsoever that any work was performed. If there has been recent rain the lawn is more likely to show track marks from the machine or potentially low spots where the machine carried a load.
We do use plywood for the Bobcat to create "zero-turn" capabilities in key locations in the lawn. This allows the machine to be driven in straight lines most of the time, which greatly reduces the likelihood of torn or scuffed grass.
A grassy lawn is an ecosystem that is self-healing and usually grows over minor marks or dirt spots within a couple weeks of the growing season. Ruts and divots, usually caused by logs or limbs cut from greater heights, or by main stems of larger trees, may seem huge and obvious to the eye but they quickly disappear as the ecosystem conforms to them and fills them in with new growth. We do not guarantee or promise repair of ruts and divots, as these are common pre-existing factors in the lawn which had simply been less obvious due to being covered by grass.
We hope that this information does not dishearten you, but rather makes you understand the nature of our business. We are here to serve and assist those who hire us. We take responsibility for our actions but also ask for a sense of awareness concerning the great difficulty of the work we do. Anyone who believes it to be easy or simple is welcome to come work a week with us at Easy Eddy's Tree Service. We would love to have you, and you would have a chance to see the magnitude of the burden we bear on the behalf of all our customers and neighbors.
